Buying Coins

Project by Joachim Eckl

March 2006
London City

Buying Coins is about exchanging values: It shows a personal approach to the reality of lives of homeless people. Joachim Eckl bought coins from beggars on the streets of London for the double monetary value. His tour through London resulted in a summary of six life stories of homeless people. This special way of handling money made it possible to create successful encounters at eye level. As a result of this work Joachim Eckl and Kurt Hennrich shot a film which was also shown on several international film festivals. (DVD – 21 minutes)
