Derailment

at the entrance of “Die Station”

Cologne Set "Sambawagen" 1951, 34m, 26t. approx. 100m of tracks

Station Neufelden

The set of „Sambawagen“ come from Cologne and were built in 1951 – the same year as the warehouse Neufelden – and were built as the first train- and tram-sets after World War I. Joachim Eckl bought the two sets from the “Linzer Lokalbahn”. The “Derailment” is a monumental entrance-installation (36ts) which expresses the power of the moment. Derailments often occur in life. They contain precious inspiration for an understanding of the past and the voyage into the future.

The “Derailment” and the „Ship’s landing“ of the ship „Grünberg“ are real-time sculptures: The power of the moment matters, in which everything changes in this very moment and a new situation becomes reality. One single glance is not enough to grasp and experience the work. You have to listen into these powerful installations like listening to a piece of music to be able to understand and use them. You are required to empathize and reflect the powers that let the ship and the trains dock here, furnished with the terms of “landing” and “derailment”. They are understood as works of art and work as inspiration and impulse of consciousness for all visitors of “Die Station”.
