Performance about the idea of the sun barque on an island in the middle of the Nile between Karnak- and Hatschepsut temple

18., 21. & 22. April 2010
Karnak, Nile, West-Thebes

Introductory digression to the Egyptian mythology:

The divine spirit of the pharaoh travels on a barque to the sun after his death on earth. KA (the life forces) and BA (the soul of sensation) rise from his body and extend towards the sky. Another part of these spiritual forces of life sinks to the ground and flows into the earth.

The sun barque travelling to the sun plays a major role as shaping means of transportation of the released forces in the Egyptian mythology. The sun barque focuses, contains and embodies the spiritual substance. The infinite circle of the sun, her endless journey holds the reverse river of time.

In 24 hours the sun changes 4 times its direction and her entity. In the morning she emerges in the East from the earth and ascends to the sky like a falcon. At noon she appears at the highest point as Re-Harachte at the zenith of her journey. In the evening she sets as Amun in the West and re-entries the earth. The symbol of the head of a ram reflects the penetration capability of the sun. Also the Egyptian word for ram “BA” refers to the existence of a spiritual power in this penetration. On its trip through the darkness of the underworld unfolds the spirit of the sun as Osiris. In this process of the subterranean journey – from the West to the East – changes the river of time. At its lowest point of this infinite journey through the darkness back to sunrise is the mummy, the embalmed inanimate body of the pharaoh buried.

His material body works like a monument – as a memory and answering entity – for the spiritual powers of KA and BA on their way to their unity as the immortal ACH. This is how the idea of the eternity as a cyclical process is being derived from the appearance of the sun in Egyptian mythology. In this process the sun is understood as the source of life – light, warmth and spirit. The changing of its different states of being on its circular tour as well as its exit and entry into the earth are magic processes, which can be compared to the change in the aggregate state of matter.

In breaking through the borders of state of the elements – from solid to liquid, from liquid to gaseous and vice versa – you can observe scientifically inexplicable forces. e.g. If you poor one litre of 1 degree cold water to one litre of boiling water (100°C) you get 2 litres of 50,5°C water. But if you poor one litre of 0°C water – in solid state as ice to a litre of boiling water (100°C) you get 2 litres of 10,5 °C water. Where does this additional cold energy derive from?
