Station Neufelden

The children of the Grammar school in Neufelden were received in the derailed railway carriage in the HEIMART® - Station and then invited to a trip through memory in their mind. They travelled through many stations on a big world map to Egypt where the pyramids are located. They were visibly inspired building jointly the Grain Osiris afterwards. Drawing their body’s shape on paper showed their bodies as “maps”, Egyptian history thus could be personally experienced. They all looked like mummies.

The joint effort now was to fill the mummy shaped human form with soil and seed it with barley. A mythological picture of human beings had been created which the children could explain by themselves through their actions. Everybody agreed that spirit and corn would sprout out of the soil-human-being. Then the “Grain-Osiris” was jointly brought to the exhibition Sunwater as an “Osiris bed” and integrated into it. All interested pupils are invited to come back and learn more about art and old Egyptian culture and watch the spirit of life growing.

“Grain Osiris”: Figure of the mummy shaped god Osiris, formed of soil and seed in which the seedlings were brought to germinate. Osiris effectuated the periodic renewal of vegetation and the resurrection of the dead. The equation of resurrection of the deceased and sprouting of barley is described in various texts.
