"Bad or Alive" Macbeth Paintings by Martyn Jacques
From the 19th of February to the 13th of April you can admire and acquire Martyn Jacques` „Macbeth Paintings“ at La Perla 29 in La Bibliotheca Theatre in Barcelona. This unique “Story-board of Macbeth-paintings” has been created during the time of preparation of the show “A Macbeth Song”, directed by Oriol Broggi and in which The Tiger Lillies counterbalance the three actors as the three witches prophesying evil.

Martyn Jacques, mastermind of The Tiger Lillies, has spent decades touring with countless performances. To channel the adrenaline of these shows, he has continuously painted in secret, “to stop himself from going mad,” as he puts it.
In his studios in London, Athens, and Berlin, Jacques has created a collection of paintings that reveal strange, dark, and humorous stories—much like his songs. These are images of the soul, painted as the soul might paint if it could.
But beware: these works are far from pastel and ethereal. They are bold, intensely colorful, fleshy, drunk, absurd, melancholic, angry, sardonically laughing, vulnerable, and murderous all at once.

Martyn Jacques, l’ànima creadora de The Tiger Lillies, ha passat dècades de gira amb innombrables espectacles. Per canalitzar l’adrenalina d’aquestes actuacions, ha pintat en secret, “per no tornar-se boig”, com ell mateix diu.
Als seus estudis de Londres, Atenes i Berlín, Jacques ha creat una col·lecció de pintures que revelen històries estranyes, fosques i plenes d’humor—molt semblants a les seves cançons. Són imatges de l’ànima, pintades com ho faria l’ànima si pogués.
Aquest singular “storyboard de pintures de Macbeth” s’ha creat durant el procés de preparació de l’espectacle A Macbeth Song.
